Choose Your Own Adventure Emulator

At the centre lies the Prime Meridian. The 24-hour dial represents the Shepherd Gate Clock, the public face of a complex telegraphic system that distributes GMT across Britain and beyond since 1852. The coin is mounted in a presentation card that features an image of an antique print of Flamsteed House by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, 1824.

About Gods Own Junkyard
God's own Junkyard was founded by the late neon artist Chris Bracey, the son of a Welsh coal miner who moved to Walthamstow after the second world war and set up as a maker of neon signs for circuses and fairgrounds. Visitors to God’s own Junkyard can view Bracey’s personal collection of neon artworks, ranging from 60’s Soho sex club signs, to his work in the movie industry with pieces used in ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, ‘Captain America’, ‘Byzantium’ and more. Also available to view are some of Bracey’s gallery pieces and works commissioned for and by other artists and high-profile clients, such as British Vogue. The business is still family owned with bespoke signs being made using traditional techniques from their studio in Walthamstow. 

About Jeremy Deller
Jeremy Deller (b. 1966) is a British artist well-known for his bold, multi-disciplinary practice engaged with pop culture and social politics. Deller’s work spans performance, print, sound, and photography - among other mediums. He was awarded the Turner Prize in 2004.

Deller has exhibited internationally with institutions such as Tate Britain, London; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Whitechapel Gallery, London; La Biennale di Venezia, Venice; Tate Modern, London; and Turner Contemporary, Margate.

This sculpture forms part of a range accompanying the British Museum exhibition Ancient India: living traditions.

This beautiful figurine has been expertly crafted and hand-finished in the UK by sculptor Thomas Meadows. The technique of cold casting involves producing a finely sintered real bronze, which is added to a moulded shell with a strengthened resin, resulting in a detailed sculpture. This piece embodies the peacock’s natural beauty and elegance with a lifelike finish and hand painted blue tail feathers.

Native to India, the peacock is deeply intwined with Hindu theology. Deities such as Krishna, Saraswati and Kartikeya all share a link with the bird. Also known as the Indian peafowl, the peacock is the national bird of India. These creatures are celebrated for their vibrant plumage, making them a popular recurring motif in Indian art.
